Rollins College hosted 185 Ferncreek Elementary School students for "Pathways to College Day" Monday, October 20. Rollins students, faculty and staff used the day to educate the children on the importance of attending college. Volunteers helped organize this year's event, which included educational activities, campus tours and a science/magic show performed by President Lewis Duncan.
"Pathways to College allows Fern Creek students to experience college for a day, especially in the areas of Science," Director of Community Engagement Micki Meyer said. "Rollins science students have the unique opportunity to teach lessons in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, energy and the environment alongside Rollins faculty. Our hope is that this day encourages many Fern Creek students to become curious and interested in science through their educational experiences."
This is the fourth year Rollins’ Office of Community Engagement has organized “Pathways to College Day.” More than 75 Rollins students, faculty and staff participated in the event as instructors, tour guides and volunteers.
