As students were moving into their residence halls at the start of this new school year, Counseling and Psychological Services and Rollins Health Services were on the move as well.

Previously located in McKean Hall, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) now returns to its original home on the Terrace Level of Elizabeth Morse Genius Hall. With its beautiful views of pristine Lake Virginia, CAPS welcomes students Monday through Friday to gain assistance for any number of concerns.

“We’re here to help students with issues big and small,” said CAPS Director Joanne Vogel. “We work with students dealing with homesickness, adjusting to college life, academic stress and ongoing care for existing conditions.”

Counseling services, which are available without charge to all students, cover a wide range of areas including stress management, group therapy and treatment of addictions and substance abuse.

With the upcoming flu season drawing closer, students will definitely want to know that Rollins Health Services has moved to the 118 West Fairbanks Avenue building, just east of Pita Pit. The shared use of this space means that students will still have easy access to on-campus health care (now with its own parking spaces) but the move also means that consulting physician, Dr. Lane Phillips, is now just a few offices away when needed for collaboration.

The building, which is owned by Rollins College, provides Rollins Health Services with five treatment rooms, one consultation room, an emergency bay, and, new this academic year, onsite x-raying capabilities.

“I’m excited about this move because the updated facility and equipment means our services have become even more convenient and comprehensive,” said Direct of Health Services Sandy Weisstein. “The new facility has a very professional, clinical feel but it’s still very warm and homey. We get the best of both worlds here.”

Rollins Health Services is a confidential, safe place for students to get accurate information about their health and treatment for any number of health issues. Winter Park Urgent Care will continue to operate as its own distinct entity serving the surrounding community.
