On Friday, May 28, 38 members of the Rollins community, along with volunteers from Habitat for Humanity, spent the morning landscaping and providing finishing touches on Sodexo employee Gail Richardson’s new Winter Park home.
The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) planned and organized the project, which ended up being a wonderful community contribution as well as a productive, team-building opportunity for various Rollins departments.
“It’s funny that working on the Habitat project gave us such a great feeling about ourselves, our team and Rollins College,” said Assistant Vice President for Finance and Assistant Treasurer Bill Short. “What is it about working hard at helping others that provides personal fulfillment and joy, and leaves us feeling as if we got more from the event than Gail? The event allowed us to act as giving individuals and at the same time made us a better team in the process. It is wonderful that we have an employer who not only affords us the opportunity to participate in projects like these, but actually encourages and facilitates our participation.”
