Campus Spotlight: Heidi Limongi
March 26, 2010
Tucked away in McKean Hall is the Residential Life (Res Life) Office. And in that office there is an oasis of fish, exotic plants, and sugar-free candy. Literally at the center of it all is Heidi Limongi. She’s the first person you see when you enter and she always greets you with a smile.
Limongi has been a member of the Rollins community for a while now. She received her AB in Sociology here in 2003. After several years away, she returned in 2006, coincidentally starting work on the same day as fellow Spotlight recipient “Doc” Gallup. Not only is she the administrative and operations assistant for Res Life, she is also a member of the Staff Advisory Committee for the College. On top of that, she is currently pursuing an MA in Liberal Studies.
“Wherever there are blanks I fill them in,” said Limongi about her post. Indeed she does. Whether she’s answering student inquiries about housing arrangements, fielding questions from parents, or training work studies, Limongi is always positive. The novelty award behind her desk proves it; it says “Most Likely to: Make you smile.”
One other job that she has taken upon herself is the caretaking of students’ plants and pet fish while they leave campus on vacation. But sometimes no one comes to reclaim the flora or fauna and they become part of the office full time. And it’s no surprise that she has her own menagerie at home. Two cats, a red-eared slider turtle, and a ten gallon fish tank make for a full house!
The one thing that she would like the Rollins community to know is: “Live, love, and laugh often.” -Jennifer Ritter (Class of 2013)
