By the end of the night, the 5th annual Campus MovieFest (CMF) on Feb. 25 left everyone with stars in their eyes.
Upon entering the Alfond Sports Center for the big show, each guest was adorned with Mardi Gras themed gear, received a red carpet photo-op, were given tons of candy, and automatically were eligible for awesome door prizes. The sports center filled with over 400 students eager to see what their classmates could do with a video camera and some intuition.
“It was really great,” said Libby Anderson (Class of 2010). “We had a lot of people come and help out. So many people were excited to come this year and, as always, Rollins presented high-quality films.”
CMF is one of Rollins’ most highly attended events. It’s not only a great opportunity to get involved on campus, but it also provides an outlet for students to showcase their talents, speak their minds and entertain their peers.
This year’s winners included:
The Search, Entre Nous and Number Eight are now in contention at the 2010 Southern Regional Grand Finale.
The top movies from the festival will be shown exclusively on AT&T handsets via AT&T's CV mobile video platform.
Campus MovieFest was hosted by All Campus Events (ACE). Next year ACE will strive to make it bigger and better and hopes to reach out to more students and expand the pre-show.
Following CMF, ACE hosted a Mardi Gras-themed after party in Dave’s DownUnder. Everything was decked out from the ceiling to the floor from streamers to the King cake and candy. At the after party, guests enjoyed a Rollins Improv Player (RIP) show and the anticipated reveal of the ACE Spring Arena Concert artists: Black Violin and Shwayze. The Spring Arena performance will be on Sunday, April 25.
