Students come from all over the world to attend Rollins. In the last five years, the Office of International Student & Scholar Services has seen tremendous growth with 154 international students currently on campus representing 51 countries.
The students are enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences, the Hamilton Holt School Evening Program or the Crummer Graduate School of Business.
Recently, International Education Week (IEW) offered many opportunities to celebrate our international students and learn more about them and their countries. Highlights included two Skype sessions, the Rollins World Cup soccer tournament and the IEW CultureFest ’09, which featured a variety of entertainment and an Iron Chef cooking competition. More than a dozen offices across campus collaborated to make IEW possible.
The Office of International Student & Scholar Services helps brings these students to Rollins and assists as they acclimate to our country and culture.

“The adjustment to college life is a challenge for most college students,” said Director Jenifer León. “When you add adjusting to a new language, culture and strict immigration regulations, the adjustment can be overwhelming.”
The Office serves as a resource in this adjustment process and advises the students on maintaining their immigration status.
“These students bring so much to our campus,” said León. “They offer our students a different perspective and, with more than 30 languages represented, provide a new voice.”
Following the completion of a strategic plan in 2008, the College has hired a new Director of International Admissions, Ed Bustos. Bustos will lead the school’s international recruiting efforts, beginning with Latin America and the Caribbean then expanding abroad to Asia, among other regions.
“Rollins is currently ahead of many colleges and universities in its efforts,” said León. “Our renewed commitment, however, will enable us to share the Rollins education with more international students as well as further enrich our campus for all students.”
