Rollins College, in partnership with the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class XXI, contributed a reflection area at the entrance of the 38,000-square-foot Winter Park Community Center. The Reflection Area features tables, benches, flowers and artistic stepping stones designed by local artists David Cumbie, located in the shadows of an old oak tree. The stones will embrace the rich history of West Winter Park. Rollins students also donated more than 300 children’s books to be utilized in the youth room of the community center.
“We are dedicated to supporting this wonderful community asset and to enhancing the lives of our Winter Park neighbors,” said Cindy Bowman LaFronz, Rollin’s director of community relations. “This community center will create an essential gathering place for generations to come.”
The Rollins College community is invited to the Winter Park Community Center Interactive Open House on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The community center is located at 721 W. New England Avenue.
