Rollins Continues to Monitor Hurricane Irene

August 25, 2011

Wednesday, August 25 at 10:30 a.m.

Central Florida could experience some heavy rain and winds this afternoon and throughout Friday morning as Hurricane Irene continues on its track parallel to the Atlantic coast of Florida, according to the National Weather Service. If immediate weather alerts are necessary, you will receive those messages via Outreach.

Classes, functions and events will proceed as scheduled unless you are notified otherwise. Rollins will continue to monitor the path of Irene and keep you apprised of College operations plans.

Emergency management officials recommend avoiding Central Florida’s East coast beaches due to dangerous tides and currents. Please continue to check local media outlets for weather updates and consult this website for updates on Rollins operations plans. The next update is expected to be issued by 3 p.m. this afternoon.
