More than 350 families traveled from around nation and the world—from as far away as Canada, England, Switzerland, Jamaica, Sweden and the Virgin Islands—to take part in Family Weekend, October 22 to 26.
Parents were able to take part in classes and learn more about the curricular and co-curricular Rollins experience. The weekend included the opportunity for parents to attend informative programs such as the Winter Park Institute’s Fall Symposium, “The 21st Century: Opportunities and Challenges in the New Millennium,” which featured panel discussions by specialists on a variety of timely topics ranging from “Politics and the Economy” to “The Human Environment” to “The Natural World,” as well as the presentation, “The Great Ocean Adventure,” by noted oceanographer and environmental activist, Jean-Michel Cousteau. Other highlights included an ice cream social, a Sabbath dinner, a service project with Habitat for Humanity Orlando, a family picnic by the pool, Rollins sporting events, and a Sunday worship ceremony.
