Campus Spotlight: Dev Beepath

October 22, 2009

DevTucked away in the far corner of campus between Cornell Fine Arts Museum and McKean Hall is Central Receiving, also known as “the warehouse.”  For the last fifteen years, it has been the main domain of Dev Beepath.

Besides food and bookstore merchandise, everything passes through Central Receiving. Furniture and dormitory supplies are shipped in during the summer while office supplies are passed through during the school year. As every Rollins student knows, if you get a package via FedEx, UPS, or DHL, a red slip appears in your mailbox that sends you down to the warehouse to pick it up.

“Everything that happens on campus starts here,” Dev Beepath explained.

As of this coming July, Dev will have been at Central Receiving for fifteen years. Therefore, you know he loves what he does. His favorite perk of the job is the opportunity to meet so many people. Students and their family members are constantly coming into the warehouse, and occasionally, alumni return for a visit too.

Even before taking his post in Central Receiving, Dev was no stranger to Rollins. Years ago, he earned his Bachelor’s degree here in Environmental Studies. Now, he is in the process of earning a Master’s degree in Elementary Education.
