The Rollins College Safe Zone program was created in 2007 as a way to support and embrace our Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (GLBTQ) communities here at Rollins.

Supporters of GLBTQ communities often do one of three things:

1. Say we're allies, don't know how to support our communities and do nothing.
2. Say we're allies, do something, but it's not helpful.
3. Say we're allies and do something that support our GLBTQ communities, and it is helpful because we've spent time listening and gaining awareness of the needs and support for our often marginalized communities.

Safe Zone Allies want to focus on building a community that listens, acts and educates others on the GLBTQ communities. Our vision is to build a community of Allies who support and advocate for the rights of our GLBTQ community members.

By becoming an Ally, there will be opportunities for you to continue your understanding and awareness of the GLBTQ communities at Rollins College and in Central Florida. You will be given a placard to place in your office, classroom or residence hall while also gaining continuing awareness opportunities to further learning and support for our communities.
