Rollins MBA Professor Keynotes Two Major Operations Management Conferences in BrazilSeptember 8, 2010 – Dr. Henrique Correa, Ph.D., professor of operations and supply chain management at the Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business, will deliver a keynote address at the National Meeting of Industrial Engineering (ENEGEP 2010), organized by the Brazilian Association of Production Engineering (ABEPRO). He will address supply chain management and the challenges that businesses face, especially during these economic downturns.
Held from October 12-15 in San Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil, ENEGEP is the premier forum for the academic community, researchers, engineers, and other professionals involved in production engineering, to come together to discuss technical and scientific production topics and issues pertinent the industry.
Dr. Correa also recently keynoted at XIII Symposium of Production, Logistics and International Operations (SIMPOI 2010), hosted by FGV Business School, held from August 23-27. SIMPOI addressed key issues associated with designing and managing global supply networks, including the challenges posed by the recent economic crisis worldwide.
“Global supply chain management is a theme that is increasingly important in times of globalization and particularly to Brazil, whose economy is booming and becoming increasingly integrated into the world economy,” said Dr. Correa. “This is about coordinating and integrating global operations so that supplies, products, information and services flow efficiently and effectively across company and country borders.”
At the Rollins MBA, Dr. Correa focuses on global supply chain management, flexible operations and service operations management. He has published extensively in several academic journals, as well as authored and co-authored eight books and textbooks in the fields of operations strategy, service operations, operations management and manufacturing planning and control systems. Following publication of his eighth book, Global Supply Chain Management, and the positive reviews it received, he was invited to participate at ENEGEP and SIMPOI.
Dr. Correa has lived and worked in Brazil as a professor at the University of São Paulo and at the FGV Business School, and later on as a consultant. He was also the vice president for the Americas in the Production Operations Management Society from 2005-2008, before he stepped down in 2009. He is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Operations and Production Management, and is certified in production and inventory management (CPIM) by APICS.
