About Patti McCall

I earned my MLS and MA (with a focus on twentieth century U.S. military history) from the University at Albany.   I spent eight years directing library operations at Albany Molecular Research, Inc. a drug discovery and research company before serving as Head Of Public Services at the Pratt Institute Library in Brooklyn, NY.  Most recently I was the Physical & Life Sciences Librarian at the University of Central Florida.  My research interests include open access and scholarly communications in the sciences as well as issues in research data management.  I’m active in the American Chemical Society and the Association of College and Research Libraries.  I never imagined that I would make a career of the sciences but I love what I do and I love working with scientists, especially future scientists.  I’d like to think my Dad, a former laboratory technician for Sterling Winthrop, would be proud.  Outside of work I can often be found at local punk shows, holed up in a coffee shop trying to teach myself Norwegian, camping out on my porch with a beer trying to learn to crochet (which gives me friends a good laugh), reading books (as opposed to journal articles at work!), biking around downtown Orlando, planning my next adventure in the Adirondack Mountains, or hanging out with my dogs Jilly and Vivian.
