Purpose
In an effort to expand the library resources available to our respective patrons, the University of Central Florida Library and the Olin Library have entered into a reciprocal agreement to allow responsible patrons to borrow materials at both libraries.
Eligibility
All faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students in good standing with the home library (i.e. no unpaid fines, lost or damaged books, or record of excessive late returns) are eligible for borrowing privileges at the guest library. Persons who are community or courtesy borrowers at the home library are not eligible under this agreement.
Application Procedure
1. Pick up an application form at the Circulation Desk of your home library, complete it, and have it approved and signed.
2. Take the completed form plus your campus photo ID card to the Circulation Desk of the guest library, where you will be issued a courtesy borrower's card. You must present this courtesy borrower's card and your campus photo ID to check out materials.
Alternatively, you can pick up an application form at the Circulation Desk of the guest library, fill it out, and present it to the Circulation staff. They will contact the home library for approval. There may be up to half an hour delay to complete this process. If there are any problems, you will need to get an approval signature from your home library as outlined above.
Length of Courtesy Privileges
Borrowing privileges at both libraries automatically cease whenever a student leaves school or a faculty or staff member terminates employment. Otherwise, the courtesy borrowing privileges will normally be granted until May 15th of the current academic year. After that date, a new application will have to be submitted.
Responsibilities
The rules, regulations, loan periods, fines, etc. of the guest library are in effect for all materials borrowed from that library. Materials borrowed from the guest library must be returned directly there. Any delinquencies in returning materials, paying fines promptly, or paying for lost or damaged materials will lead to suspension of library privileges at both libraries.
