About Dr. Houston

John Houston, an industrial/organizational psychologist, joined Rollins College in 1989 after earning a Ph.D. from New York University.  His teaching has focused on the psychology of work, group dynamics, statistics and research methods, and social psychology.  Houston’s research examines several applied areas including competitiveness, aggressive driving, and neighborhood attachment.  His articles have been published in a variety of journals, such as North American Journal of Psychology, Personality and Individual Differences, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and Educational and Psychological Measurement.  His research has been reported in The Los Angeles Times, BBC News Magazine, The Sunday Times (London), and National Public Radio.
