The Interdisciplinary Scholarship Series (ISS) Kicks Off in October

The Interdisciplinary Scholarship Series (ISS) continues in its second year as an opportunity for faculty to engage in collegial discussion topics and promote ISS Fall 2010 schedule

interdisciplinary scholarship at Rollins. The ISS was developed last fall by Professor of Economics Charlie Rock, Associate Dean of the Faculty and Professor of Political Science Don Davison and Interim Provost Laurie Joyner. Seven ISS events were held last academic year.

Last year the ISS became a showcase for faculty scholarly accomplishments and discussion. “The ISS reflects the heart of Rollins’ academic life as faculty come together as a community to cross disciplinary boundaries and engage in discussions which highlight our commitment both to a life of the mind and the practical liberal arts,” said Davison. “Faculty presented their research on topics ranging from the role of the liberal arts in the current century to the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins. This year’s schedule of topics is even more ambitious, illustrating that the ISS is becoming a faculty tradition each month.”

All ISS programs begin at 12:30 p.m. and are held in the International House. This fall’s schedule includes the following participants:
