A&S Introduces Interdisciplinary Scholarship Series

Given the scholarly productivity of Rollins Arts & Sciences faculty, the Office of the Dean of the Faculty had instituted an Interdisciplinary Scholarship Series to offer an opportunity for faculty to engage in collegial discussion topics and promote interdisciplinary scholarship. 

This series was developed by Professor of Economics Charlie Rock, Associate Dean of the Faculty and Professor of Political Science Don Davison and Dean of the Faculty and Professor of Sociology Laurie Joyner. The series began this fall with three faculty presentations and will continue with four presentations during the spring semester.

All Interdisciplinary Scholarship Series programs begin at 12:30 p.m. and are held in the International House. This fall’s series dates, participants and discussion topics include:

Kenneth Curry Chair of Literature Socky O'Sullivan will discuss, "The Illiberal Arts: Four Myths of Liberal Education."

Tuesday, November 10, 2009
Assistant Professor of Anthropology Ashley Kistler will present her fieldwork on,
"Ethnohistory and Collaborative Ethnography in San Juan Chamelco, Guatemala."

Tuesday, December 1, 2009  
George D. and Harriet W. Cornell Chair of Politics Rick Foglesong will deliver a presentation based upon his forthcoming book, Immigrant Prince: Mel Martinez and the American Dream.
