Non-Rollins Programs

Overview

We encourage Rollins students to first consider Rollins Approved Semester and Rollins Approved Summer Programs, since those are programs we have reviewed, pre-approved and in some cases, helped create. However, Rollins students are allowed to participate on non-Rollins programs through other institutions and study abroad providers, as long as they understand the following policies and obtain the appropriate approvals before going abroad.

  • Students participating in a non-Rollins semester program must take a leave of absence from Rollins—International Programs will assist students in processing the necessary paperwork.
  • Students must still apply through International Programs and are required to pay a non-refundable $750 administrative and transfer credit fee for a semester program, and a non-refundable $75 administrative fee for a summer program. Charges will automatically be posted to your Rollins Student Account Services account.
  • Students will pay all costs directly to the program sponsor or provider. Costs vary widely, so research carefully to make sure you understand all the costs associated with a program—what is included in program fees and tuition, and what additional costs you may be responsible for.
  • Transfer of credits is not guaranteed on a non-Rollins program—students must obtain prior approvals from the Registrar and from the relevant departments in order to fulfill specific requirements. Credits will be processed as transfer credits. Please go to Academic Policies for details and procedures.
  • Financial Aid and institutional scholarships cannot be applied to a non-Rollins program.
  • You must attend a required advising session (30 mins) as part of the application process for a non-Rollins semester program. Important: In order to have your required advising appointment, you must have already started your application in RIPA (in MyRollins, search "RIPA Application Portal").
  • International Programs provides advising, basic pre-departure support, and, in addition, will cover emergency and medical insurance for students participating on a non-Rollins program upon request.
  • NOTE: Students are not allowed to take a leave of absence to participate in a Rollins Approved Program directly. Approved programs are only available through Rollins International Programs.
