Spring 2013 Internship

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION 

This position will assist the Director and International Student Advisor on the following projects:
1. manage pre-arrival communications and programming for all new international students
2. develop office's use of social media to enhance our communications with students
3. coordinate spring term social and cultural programming
4. research and develop effective assessment rubric for office's programs
5. work with Director on an international student retention plan and statistics

This position will develop the following skills:
1. basic understanding of immigration regulations
2. intercultural communication skills
3. event planning
4. organizational skills
5. interpersonal communication
6. in-depth knowledge of higher education administration, specifically the field of international student advising

APPROXIMATE HOURS PER WEEK

15-20 during spring term

  

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:
1. current undergraduate or graduate student
2. minimum GPA of 2.7
3. good working knowledge of Microsoft office
4. experience with a variety of web platforms and social media
5. high degree of personal integrity

Preferred:
1. knowledge of a foreign language
2. interest in international education, relations, or affairs
3. international and/or intercultural experience
