Our aim is to continue the distribution of filters until every family that can benefit has one. A short-term goal is to have at least 1000 additional units in the field by the end of the summer of 2001. We need to continue to monitor the chemical and microbiological quality of the water produced by the filters. It is particularly important to do so after the filters have been in use for a year or two, in order to know how they are working over a longer time period. We also need to do the epidemiological study in more than one community and have periodic health surveillance in communities where filters are being used. |
