Global Partners Program in Turkey offers a semester program for students from the Associated Colleges of the South, the Associated Colleges of the Midwest and the Great Lakes Colleges Association. Rollins College is a member of the Associated Colleges of the South. The program begins in Istanbul with an intensive three week language course and core course, and a nine day field study trip through western Turkey. The core course provides an introduction to the history, politics, economics and religion of Turkey. The program continues in Ankara, where students choose two or three courses from a wide range of disciplines at either Bilkent University or Middle East Technical University. Courses are taught in English.

 

 

   Lancaster University is a leading teaching and research university, recently ranked ninth among all UK universities as a research institution.  Commitments to a high standard of undergraduate and post graduate teaching and to research reinforce one another and make possible a wide variety of specialized courses.  Lancaster is noted for its innovative curricula, and pioneered a number of subjects and interdisciplinary courses in Britain, most notably a program in Women's Studies.  Students may attend for the academic year, fall or spring semesters.  

Students attending during the fall semester should also enroll in the summer pre-session program.  Students pay their normal Rollins tuition, room, board and fees.  They will then receive a stipend for their international airfare and an amount to cover their food and academic fees at Lancaster.  Generally, the airfare, food and fees amounts to approximately $3000 per semester.  Click here to view their handbook which includes available courses.  To download their application, click here.   The forms are at the bottom of the page and you will need to print out one copy of the Study Abroad Application Form, two copies of the Academic References Form and one copy of the SOCRATES Advisor's Form.  If you will be studying in Lancaster during the Fall Semester, you will also need to click here for the summer pre-session application.

 

 

   College Year in Athens provides the student with the resources to achieve a comprehensive knowledge of Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean.  It is administered for Rollins by Southwestern University.  Even though the program is best suited for students studying the classics, majors in anthropology/ethnography, art history, European studies, history, international relations, literature, philosophy, political science and religious studies are also welcomed.  Classes are taught in English and include field trips to historical sites and museums.  Students must have the endorsement of Dr. Elise Friedland in Classical Studies.

 

 

   Hollins University was among the first colleges in the nation to offer an international study program in Paris, in 1955.   A distinctive study abroad program, it is designed to be flexible in curriculum and builds around the interests of students.  You will experience the city of Paris with courses that take you right into the daily lives of its inhabitants.  This program is available to students at an intermediate level of French.  All courses are taught in French.  This program is available in fall or spring semester.  Students pay their normal Rollins tuition, room, board and fees.  They will then receive a stipend for their international airfare.

 

 

   The Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome was established in 1965 by representatives of ten American colleges and universities; the number of member institutions has now grown to 76.  It provides undergraduate students with an opportunity to study ancient history and archaeology, Greek and Latin literature, and ancient art in Rome.  Students must have the endorsement of Dr. Elise Friedland in Classical Studies.

 

 

 

   Washington Semester:  The Washington Semester Program lets students intern in Washington while taking seminars with guest speakers from the realms of foreign and domestic politics, law and jurisprudence, journalism, economic policy, and more. Students live on campus at American University located in the Georgetown area. A minimum grade point average of 2.5 is required, as is a recommendation from Dr. Foglesong in the Politics Department.  Students pay their normal Rollins tuition, room, board and fees.      Hong Kong Baptist University offers courses in 40 majors in the areas of Arts, Business Administration, Science, Social Sciences and Social Work. Many classes are taught in English, and students enroll directly in university classes. Accommodation is provided in an international student residence hall. Students enroll in four to five courses per semester, including the required course Understanding Chinese Culture. Click Here for information about available courses.

HKBU has an exchange relationship with 53 US colleges and universities, including Furman, Stetson, and Birmingham Southern. Each partner institution sends HKBU one to four students per semester.  Students wishing to apply for this program may want to apply for the Freeman Asia Scholarship, providing $3,000-$7,000 toward study in Asia.
