Revised Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) Released


The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a Revised Employment Eligibility Verification Form (Form I-9) today, March 8, 2013.  The new Form I-9 is available by clicking here.

USCIS said that employers should use the new form as soon as possible. Although employers should begin using the 03/08/13 dated form right away, older forms dated 02/02/09 and 08/07/09 will be accepted until May 7, 2013. After May 7, 2013, only the 03/08/13 will be accepted. The revision date is on the lower left corner of the form.   In addition, employers do not need to complete the new Form I-9 (Rev. 03/08/13) for current employees for whom there is already a properly completed Form I-9 on file unless reverification applies.  To review the Handbook for Employers, Guidance for Completing Form I-9, please click here.

Please destroy any old versions of the Form I-9 you have in your work locations and begin using the new version immediately.  Please contact the Human Resources Office if you have any questions.
