Guests in sequined saris and ornate Nehru jackets mingled beneath the marble towers of the Taj Mahal to benefit Hamilton Holt School scholarship students at the annual Starry, Starry Night fundraising event on April 20. Held at Rollins’ Alfond Sport Center, the event raised more than $170,000 in scholarship funds as it celebrated the unique culture of India. Distinctively spiced cuisine combined with the aroma of flowers and the glamour of traditional Indian musicians and dancers to make the evening an out-of-the-ordinary experience.
Known for its striking themes and its lively surprises, Starry, Starry Night has become the premier fundraising event in Central Florida. “In its 16 years, the event has provided an opportunity for business and community leaders to have an impact on the future of Central Florida as they give the dream of a Rollins education to academically deserving local students with financial need,” said Nancy Schwalb, chair of the event. “Starry, Starry Night is always a lot of fun, but it is also truly transformative.”
Featuring a cocktail party, a gourmet dinner, live entertainment, and auctions offering high-quality items, artwork, dining, and trips, Starry, Starry Night has raised more than $2 million in scholarship funds since 1997, helping hundreds of local students in Rollins’ evening degree program. “The event’s longstanding success directly reflects the generosity and vision of its patrons,” said Joanne Hanley, Hamilton Holt School Director of Advancement.”
