General Information

Careers in Education
Teachers are vital to our future. An educated citizenry is essential if the United States is to remain competitive in the global marketplace and if we are to solve many complex social and economic problems.

The employment outlook for teachers is good over the long term, particularly because many teachers will retire, opening job prospects further. Elementary school teaching jobs are expected to increase 31 percent by 2005. In Florida, where the population is growing rapidly, more teachers will be needed to meet the demand for educating the children of parents moving here for job opportunities and mild weather. In general, experts believe that one million more teaching jobs will open up in the U.S. by 2005

Classes to fit your schedule
Students can choose between evening and afternoon classes and begin their studies in the summer, fall, or spring, attending classes year-round. Classes offered during the fall and spring terms meet once per week, making it easy to schedule work or family duties around class attendance. Summer term classes meet twice per week.

Smaller, friendlier
With a student-faculty ratio of 12 to 1 in many classes, you can easily develop a rapport with faculty and classmates. Smaller classes enable you to receive the personal attention and individual instruction necessary for superior education and development as professional educators. Rollins offers a caring environment responsive to the adult learner who often balances academics with a job and family.

Faculty who love teaching
Classes at Rollins are personal and interactive. Devoted to teaching and supportive of adult learners, Rollins professors go out of their way to help students achieve their goals. Faculty include nationally prominent professors who remain active in the teaching profession. In addition to their ongoing scholarship and dedication to teaching, they serve on governing boards of professional journals and national and state associations.
