Holt Connections Magazine to Debut in Summer
The Hamilton Holt School will launch a new magazine for the Holt School that will be published annually, starting this summer. The new magazine, named Holt Connections, will feature stories on student, alumni, and faculty accomplishments as well as news on the Holt School’s new degree initiatives, grant projects, and special events including Starry, Starry Night and graduation.
In October, the Holt School ran a name-the-magazine contest that was won by Shannon Doster, a senior in the Holt School majoring in Communication Studies. Doster said she chose the name Holt Connections
because, “its main purpose will be to keep faculty, current students, and alumni connected to Holt and Rollins.”
Prior to coming to Holt, Doster owned a Planet Beach franchise, and she plans to open an indoor play gym for children in the future. As the mother of two young children, Doster is always brainstorming new ideas and she believes children should have time to use their imaginations and have fun, creative play.
Doster’s entry beat out more than 100 entries, and she won a dinner for two at the restaurant 310 Park Avenue. Her grandfather, James Bo Doster went back to school while in his late 50s to earn an MBA from Rollins College in 1976.
Doster said, “Being able to continue my education at such a wonderful institution as Rollins College, especially since it is my grandfather’s alma mater, not only makes me feel extremely blessed but it makes me feel connected …. hence Holt Connections
