Claire Strom recently moved to Rollins from North Dakota State University in Fargo. She is adapting well to her new environment but still misses the weather of the Northern Plains. Strom is an agricultural and southern historian, researching and writing about various aspects of the southern yeoman farmer. Her book, Making Catfish Bait Of Government Boys: Cattle Tick Eradication and the Transformation of the Yeoman South was published in the spring of 2009. She also edits the international journal, Agricultural History, http://www.aghistorysociety.org/. Strom teaches classes on various aspects of American history including upcoming courses on the history of American sexuality and the history of food in America.
