Welcome to Rollins! As you begin your journey through higher education, it is important for you to know about the health care services available at Rollins to help keep you healthy while you are away from home. Rollins has a comprehensive health and wellness program which offers well care, prevention, and the diagnosis and treatment of acute illness and/or injury.
The transition from living at home to living on your own can be difficult. The change comes along with a lot of stress, but when an illness or medical problem complicates that transition to college life, the stress can almost feel overpowering. When you begin to experience symptoms of an illness, please remember that our staff is here to help you make the transition easier. Our physician and nurse practitioners are specialists in taking care of young adults and are available to educate about self-care strategies and encourage you to make healthy choices. Our staff also works with the Rollins Counseling and Psychological Services staff to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible.
Rollins Health Services’ (RHS) staff takes confidentiality very seriously and it is mandated by law that no medical information be released to parents of non-minor children without a written request signed by the student. Your parents, however, will be contacted immediately in the case of a medical emergency where there is an issue of life or death.
It is our sincere hope that you find our services accessible and of high quality. If you do encounter any problems, I encourage you to contact me and let me know where we can improve. If your parents are in town and would like to take a tour, feel free to stop in and we’ll be glad to show them our facility. If you have a medical condition, please make an appointment to see one of our staff members as soon as possible so that we can meet you before any problems arise. You and your parents may also want to check the Rollins Health Services website at www.rollins.edu/health which has further information about our services and links to reputable health related websites. Please do not hesitate to contact me with your questions, comments, and/or concerns.
