Students may receive their desensitization injections using the antigens supplied by their allergist. Prior to the first injection at the Student Health Services (SHS), all allergy students must make an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner (NP) to review SHS allergy policy & procedure. A letter from the allergist including instructions for administration and a written acknowledgement of acceptance of the SHS allergy policy (a Nurse Practitioner supervises the allergy injection procedure) is required to be on file in the student's health record prior to initiating allergy injections at the SHS. Also, students must remain at the SHS for 20 minutes after each injection.
