Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization

The Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) was launched on a national level in 1997.  The Kauffman Foundation joined as a major sponsor two years later.  Today, CEO operates on a global platform and continues to promote its mission “to inform, support and inspire college students to be entrepreneurial and seek opportunity through enterprise creation.”

The Rollins CEO chapter, formed in 2004, organizes a variety of programs and events designed to promote successful entrepreneurship amongst students and engage them in entrepreneurial activity.  Programs offered have included the Venture Plan Challenge, Elevator Pitch Competition and CEO Roundtables with advanced entrepreneurs.  For more information on C.E.O., visit their website at http://www.rollinsceo.com/.

First Movers

First Movers, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, is a student-conceived, student-developed, and student-run organization with a dual purpose: first, to educate students of the Rollins Community in business management and entrepreneurship through hands-on experience; second, to ultimately use profits to finance the Rollins Collegiate Entrepreneurial Organization (CEO).

The idea for the First Movers, Inc. was conceived of by a group of second-year students of the Crummer Graduate School of Business as a semester-end project for their entrepreneurship class.  Undergraduate students in the Accelerated Management Program at Rollins College were then interviewed for leadership positions in the infant company.   With the support of Dr. Michael Bowers (professor) the students took the preliminary business plan and developed a concrete implementation strategy which was approved by Rollins College Business Services.  The First Movers incorporated under the State of Florida in spring of 2006 and received a start-up investment from Mr. Randy Frey in early May.
