The Family Enterprise initiative’s overarching objective is to provide programming that will teach the next generation how to think and act entrepreneurially in family business, wealth management and philanthropy.
The Family Enterprise initiative will focus on educating the next generation to bring entrepreneurial thought and action to the business and philanthropic elements of managing and growing family wealth. This leverages the College’s areas of competency and established thought leadership to serve the interests of our communities and fill a broader market niche.
The current and next generations of philanthropists exhibit an increasing interest in venture philanthropy, which applies the same culture of entrepreneurship to the donation of the family wealth. Equipping the next generation of philanthropists to apply entrepreneurial concepts to their giving allows them the opportunity to make a social impact and develop their family legacy in a way that resonates with their generation’s interest in active philanthropy.
Key student, family and alumni events, such as Family Weekend and Reunion Weekend, will be used to communicate the program’s offering within the Rollins family. Faculty members are engaged to develop case studies and consider avenues of integration into curriculum to create additional intellectual capital and establish academic thought leadership in this area. Additionally, the program will host a fall and spring workshop focused on specific topics of interest for the next generation. Longer-term, we will broaden our offerings while maintaining a strategic focus on next generation entrepreneurial stewardship and wealth creation, as well as venture philanthropy and impact giving.
