Rollins Families Engage with Habitat for Humanity
The weekend of October 23-25, 2009, Rollins celebrated its annual Family Weekend Event. In
partnership with the Dean of Faculty and the Office of Community Engagement,
Rollins offered a service project for students and their families to participate
in. Bright and early on Saturday morning families traveled down the road to
partner with Habitat for Humanity of Winter Park. Dr. Laurie Joyner provided a
welcome message to families highlighting the College's commitment to engaged
learning and President Emeritus Thaddeus Seymour shared the story of Rollins 20
year partnership with Habitat for Humanity. For a few hours, nails were
hammered, foundations were primed, roofs were nailed together, and many new
skills were gained.
