Dr.
Greg H. Gardner came to Rollins College in 1985 and has been one
of the guiding forces behind the school's popular communication
programs. He founded the Department of Communication in 1989 and
currently serves as the Chair of the department.
The Department of Communication, under Dr. Gardner's direction, offers
a major in Organizational Communication, the most heavily enrolled major
at Rollins College. In addition, the minor in Communication is one of the
most heavily enrolled minors at the college. In 1998, Dr. Gardner
developed a new graduate degree program for the college, the Master of Arts in Corporate
Communication and Technology, which is one of only three such programs in the
nation.
In 1999, Dr. Gardner was honored by the communication discipline by
being designated a Founding Member of the Communication Council of the
American Management Association. At Rollins College, he was honored
by being a recipient of the Walter E. Barden Distinguished Teaching Award
in 1997 (presented to the outstanding faculty member in the Hamilton Holt
School of the college), the Hugh McKean Award in 1996 (with an accompanying
$10,000 grant), and the Arthur Vining Davis Fellowship in 1995 (presented
to one of the three outstanding faculty members at Rollins College).
