Dr. Lisa Tillmann began teaching at Rollins in the fall of 1999. That semester, she helped found a chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Honor Society, which she currently advises. Dr. Tillmann serves as co-chair of the Rollins Diversity Committee and also is a member of the Student Life Committee and the Gender Matters Initiative.

Dr. Tillmann came to Rollins after earning her doctorate in Communication from the University of South Florida in Tampa, where she taught from 1993 to 1998. Her teaching experience includes: interpersonal communication, communication research, small group communication, media studies, family communication, communication, gender, and sexuality, and public speaking.

In 2001, Dr. Tillmann published her first book, Between Gay and Straight: Understanding Friendship across Sexual Orientation. She also has authored several articles and book chapters on relationships. To learn more about her book project, visit www.betweengayandstraight.com
