Debra Wellman is the Dean of the College of Professional Studies. She has served the college as a member of the education department, the Associate Dean of the Faculty, Interim Dean of the Faculty, Interim Dean of Holt, and her current position as the Dean of the College of Professional Studies.
Dean Wellman has received accolades for her teaching abilities. She has been nominated to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers; in 2002 she received “Most Recognized Professor” from the Rollins students; in 2004 she was awarded the Hugh F. McKean Award for Outstanding Teaching Skills from the Rollins’ graduating class of 2004.
Dean Wellman received her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Toledo, her M.S. in education administration from Eastern Illinois University and her B.S. in elementary education and physical education from Illinois College. Although she has had the opportunity to teach every grade, the majority of her 15 years of public school teaching were spent teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth grade PE, language arts and social studies.
