Changemaker Campus Day will celebrate Rollins’ commitment to social entrepreneurship and sustainability. President Lewis Duncan and Board of Trustees Chairman David Lord will host a ceremony where Ashoka U will officially designate Rollins as a Changemaker Campus. In addition to a community-wide celebration, the day will provide abundant opportunities to engage in societal change.
Changemaker Campus designation is a reflection of Rollins' interdisciplinary and campus-wide commitment to actualizing the college's mission of educating for global citizenship and responsible leadership. In recognition of this distinguished honor and Rollins' commitment to social progress, we will celebrate Thursday, September 6, 2012 as Changemaker Campus Day. From noon to 2 PM students will be introduced to involvement opportunities in social entrepreneurship and sustainability.
At 1 PM an induction ceremony will commence at Tars Plaza in the center of Rollins' campus. Ceremony hosts include President Lewis Duncan and Board of Trustees Chairman David Lord. Featured guests include Marina Kim, Executive Director of Ashoka U* and Nicholas Kristof, Pulitzer Prize winner and The New York Times columnist. Immediately following the ceremony, an oak tree will be planted in the center of campus commemorating Rollins' commitment to "changemaking."
*Ashoka U is the world's leading association of faculty and academic institutions working to advance the academic field of social entrepreneurship.
