rollins college first stop for master photographer before beijing

 


WINTER PARK, FL — Jerry Uelsmann’s photography has been exhibited in more than 100 individual shows in the United States and abroad over the past 30 years.  His work is included collections of many museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, New York, The International Museum of Photography at the George Eastman, Rochester, Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.  Luanne McKinnon, acting director of the Cornell Fine Arts Museum says, “Jerry Uelsmann's photographic "poetry" as well as his seminal, innovative darkroom techniques confirm his valued position in the history of black and white photography.” 

Uelsmann will present a lecture entitled “Process and Perception” on Thursday, October 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Bush Auditorium on the campus of Rollins College.  Cornell Museum.  Uelsmann, a  Thomas P. Johnson Distinguished Visiting Scholar, will speak in conjunction with the exhibition Jerry Uelsmann/Mindscapes: Earth and Sky at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, on view September 8 through December 31.   The Cornell’s important exhibition of Uelsmann’s visionary landscapes preceed retrospectives at the International Center of Photography Scavi Scaligeri in Verona, Italy, February 2007, and at the Beijing World Art Museum in China, in May of 2007.

The Cornell Museum galleries are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10-5 and Sunday, 1-5; admission is $5 for adults.  There is no charge for CFAM Members, or Rollins College Faculty, Staff, and all Students with current
