famous author and art
historian to speak at cornell fine arts Museum
WINTER PARK, FL — Robert Rosenblum,
world renowned author and art historian from New York University to speak at
Rollins College. Luanne McKinnon, acting director of the Cornell Fine Arts
Museum says “Rosenblum is one of the major art
historians of the 20th century. His ideas and insights have a
profound influence on the way we understand visual history.” Author of various
ground-breaking publications including, 1900: Art at the Crossroads
(Abrams, 2000), Modern Painting and the Northern Romantic Tradition
(Icon, 1977), Transformations in Late Eighteenth-Century Art (Princeton
University, 1970) and Jean-Auguste-Dominique
Ingres (Abrams, 1990), his writings also include
books about numerous artists such as Picasso and Warhol. He has served as
curator at the Guggenheim Museum and has been a contributing editor to
ArtForum Magazine.
Rosenblum will present a free public lecture
entitled “Genesis and Apopcalypse: The Landscape
of Modern Art” on Thursday, September 14, at 6:30 p.m. on the campus of
Rollins College in the Bush Auditorium.

Distinguished Lecture is in conjunction with the exhibition
Revising Arcadia: The Landscape in Contemporary Art
on view at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, September 8 through
December 31. The galleries are open Tuesday through Saturday,
10-5 and Sunday, 1-5; admission is $5 for adults. There is no
charge for CFAM Members, or Rollins College Faculty, Staff, and
all Students with current ID.
