Welcome Danny Powell, Curator of Education

Danny Powell comes to the Cornell Fine Arts Museum after four years in museum education in New York City. He has taught at the Children's Museum of the Arts, where he developed curricula and led classes for elementary and middle school students, and most recently at Museum of the Moving Image, leading educational programs for students and visitors of all ages including high school, college, and senior groups. Danny is also a passionate writer and filmmaker, and when not teaching or making art he curates film programs for Brooklyn Wayfarers art gallery and writes poetry, with work most recently published in Penny Ante Feud.

Danny graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.A. in English Language and Literature before completing a Master's program in Film and Video at American University in Washington, DC. He began his duties at the Cornell in early January and shared, "I am tremendously excited to join Cornell Fine Arts Museum and the Rollins community, and I can't wait to welcome students to CFAM for an amazing 2013 at the museum."

School Visits

The Cornell Fine Arts Museum offers docent-led tours to primary and secondary students from public and private schools in Central Florida.  Students are inspired by our collection and exhibitions, and a Museum tour supports teachers by encouraging visual literacy, critical thinking skills, and art appreciation.

We are pleased to acknowledge the Winifred Johnson Clive Foundation and the Galloway Foundation for their generous grants which enable us to provide quality programming for students and teachers to enjoy at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum.  Docent-led tours are conducted by appointment on Tuesday through Friday, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. School groups are invited to bring a picnic and enjoy picturesque Lake Virginia from the Museum's back patio after the tour.
