The Importance of Families

Parent Involvement is an integral part of the program and philosophy of the CDC. Our families assist in devising project ideas and help us explore ways children can learn about our world.  Parents are encouraged to visit during daily activities to see the children at work with our undergraduate students and teachers.  Parent expertise is utilized to help in the progression of projects.  We encourage parents to provide feedback to improve our program.

Parent Surveys are conducted twice a year. Parent survey

We communicate with families through daily notes and weekly documentation of our ongoing projects.  The CDC believes in strong communication systems between home and school. The CDC is considered an extension of the family home life and we work to establish close ties with each family. Home visits are scheduled each year in August in our effort to development an attachment between the child/family and teachers.

The CDC Times

The CDC Times is a bi-monthly news and current research e-letter. Students, Parents and teachers compile new and noteworthy information regarding development, families, and current research and projects at the CDC.  The Times is emailed monthly to current parents.

Parent Meetings

Parent meetings are held bi-monthly from Sept-November and January-May.  We present topics of interest to parents and update progress on the children's long term projects as well as the faculty and undergraduate student research projects.
