Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice
The Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business is proud to be the editorial home of a leading journal in the global field of marketing. The Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice (JMTP) was founded in 1992, and in 2005 Professor Greg W. Marshall became its fifth editor after having served a three-year term as editor of the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management.
“Bringing the journal to Rollins was a distinct pleasure,” says Dr. Marshall. “Dean Craig McAllaster immediately recognized the prestige and benefits to the school’s brand and reputation associated with having an academic journal based here, and he has been a strong supporter and advocate.” Since its arrival in 2005, several major steps have been taken to ensure that JMTP continues to move up in the rankings of marketing journals. Among those include:
- Significant increase in globalization – both of paper submissions and reviewers of those papers.
- Frequent representation of JMTP and Rollins by Dr. Marshall on “Meet the Editors” panels around the world. In those sessions, editors from a variety of top journals provide information to groups of potential authors and engage in Q&A about how to successfully navigate the article review process.
- Strong citation activity of JMTP articles in other important journals around the world.
- Recent submission of the application packet for JMTP to be considered for inclusion in the prestigious Thomson Reuters Social Science Citation Index (SSCI). Only the very top journals globally are admitted into SSCI. JMTP is presently undergoing this review process.
Opportunity for Early Advantage MBA Students
Each year, second-year students in the Early Advantage MBA program have the opportunity to apply for a graduate assistant position as JMTP’s Editorial Assistant. This job affords a unique and rewarding experience for students to learn how a journal functions through the hands-on management of its daily operations. In this role they have the opportunity to correspond with academicians worldwide that are reviewers and authors.
