WINTER PARK, FL (March 31, 2017) – The Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business has announced FleetZoo as the 2017 winner of its annual Venture Plan Competition, Central Florida’s very own “Shark Tank” where start-ups battle for funding and mentorship before the region’s top entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. FleetZoo will receive $25,000 in prize money and has the option of receiving an additional $25,000 minimum equity investment from venVelo, a Winter Park-based, early-stage venture capital firm.

FleetZoo is a planning and optimization software company that efficiently increases the productivity and reduces costs for fleet operators. The additional finalists include Heno, Thor ORE, and Capacitech, who will take home $15,000, $7,500, and $2,500, respectively.

“This will greatly accelerate our marketing and sales efforts and we are now ready to initiate the sales and marketing process,” said Mansooreh Mollaghasemi, CEO FleetZoo. “Central Florida’s workforce and network allows for great opportunities for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.”

The Venture Plan Competition, hosted by Crummer’s Center for Advanced Entrepreneurship, was started in 2005 to give Rollins students, alumni and faculty a platform to develop a viable business plan to take to the marketplace while receiving valuable feedback from an influential panel of judges. For the first time this year competitors were not limited to those affiliated with Rollins, but open to qualifying ventures headquartered in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Polk, Lake, Volusia and Brevard counties.

“Each year we look forward to hosting the Rollins Venture Plan Competition which demonstrates Crummer’s commitment to creating and supporting the innovators of tomorrow who in turn have tremendous impact on the businesses they lead and the communities they serve,” said Dr. Deborah Crown, Dean of the Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Businesses.

Of the 18 finalists for Crummer’s Venture Plan Competition since 2012, 16 companies are in business today. Together they have generated $40 million in revenue, raised nearly $12 million in investment capital and employ close to 250 people. Past winners include Details Flowers, Fattmerchant, EASE Applications, BioCurity, flexReceipts and Pea in the Pod Prenatal Spa.

“This year’s Venture Plan Competition saw incredible proposals and business plans from truly inspiring entrepreneurs,” says Cari Coats, Executive Director of Crummer’s Center for Advanced Entrepreneurship. “The competition is a perfect embodiment of the school’s philosophy of education paired with real-world experience. We look forward to collaborating with FleetZoo to help build their business even further.”

Sponsors of the competition include venVelo, the Hayes Family Foundation, Kenyon Energy, FireSpring Fund, VentureScaleUp, RVR Consulting Group, IDEA Fund Partners and the Florida In-House Counsel Law Group.
