Rollins MBA Ranked Top Ten in Nation by Bloomberg Businessweek for Part-Time MBA Program

November 8, 2013 - The Rollins MBA at the Crummer Graduate School of Business today announced that its part-time MBA program was ranked in the top ten placing ninth nationally by Bloomberg Businessweek.

“The move from 44th in the nation to ninth proves that Rollins MBA alumni obtain a competitive advantage through hands-on learning and experiences with top business leaders that they receive at the school,” said Craig McAllaster, dean of the Rollins MBA at the Crummer Graduate School of Business. “We are thrilled to see the part-time program recognized and will continue our approach of ensuring that our students have access to world-class skills, resources and connections to lead for life.”

“If there were a theme for Bloomberg Businessweek’s 2013 part-time MBA ranking, it would be change. Of the 78 ranked programs this year, only two retained their rank from 2011. Among the others was a great deal of movement,” said Geoff Gloecker of Businessweek. Proceeding to list some of the schools that advanced the most in the ranking this year, Gloecker mentions Rollins by stating, “Rollins College’s Crummer Graduate School of Business (up 35 spots to ninth overall).”

Bloomberg Businessweek rankings focus on the end-users’ satisfaction and Rollins MBA is recognized among leading programs in the nation in part because of its ability to adapt programs to current market and student demands. For the student-satisfaction measure, the magazine surveys part-time MBA students at participating schools (who have recently graduated or are nearing graduation) about all aspects of their academic experience. Rollins MBA students benefit from the school’s distinguished faculty, who bring years of real-world business experience to the classroom. Students are also given many opportunities to engage in extraordinary hands-on learning experiences from leaders in business through domestic and global consulting projects and other programs in corporate, entrepreneurial and philanthropic environments.

The part-time MBA program ranking is based on eight separate measures of student satisfaction, academic quality, and post-graduation outcomes. To measure student satisfaction, Businessweek surveys part-time MBA students at participating schools—those who have recently graduated or are nearing graduation — about all aspects of their academic experience. Academic quality is determined using six equally weighted measures: average GMAT score, average student work experience, the percentage of teachers who are tenured, average class size in core business classes, the number of business electives available to part-timers, and the percentage of students who ultimately complete the program. To gauge post-graduation outcomes, we determine the percentage of student survey respondents from each school who say their part-time MBA program was “completely” responsible for their having achieved career goals. The student survey contributes 40 percent of the final ranking, with academic quality and post-MBA outcomes contributing 30 percent each.

This marks the fourth national ranking placing Rollins as the number one MBA program in Florida within the last few months including: Orlando Business Journal, Forbes and U.S. News and World Report.
