Go! Parent Name Winner of Rollins MBA Venture Challenge

April 12, 2010—The Rollins MBA Center for Advanced Entrepreneurship announced today that Go! Parent has been named the winner of this year’s Rollins MBA Venture Challenge. Go! Parent is developing innovative products that make families’ lives easier. Their first product, the Express Go! baby formula dispenser, will automate the process of preparing baby formula.

The idea for Go! Parent was developed by Rollins MBA students Jennifer Floyd and Todd Levine. Ms. Floyd is currently the CEO/executive director for the Healthy Start Coalition of Brevard County. Mr. Levine is a manager, mechanical engineering at Walt Disney World. The team leveraged their respective experience in health and engineering to develop the concept for Go! Parent.

“We congratulate Jennifer Floyd and Todd Levine for their creativity and for demonstrating their ability to execute on the ideas outlined in the business plan for Go! Parent,” said Cari Coats, executive director, the Rollins MBA Center for Advanced Entrepreneurship. “Collectively, this year’s participants brought forward a number of extremely creative ideas that have the potential to be transformed into viable businesses.”

In addition to Go! Parent, this year’s Rollins MBA Venture Challenge competitors included: GPSTix, a technology company focused on changing the way individuals buy and sell event tickets in the at-venue secondary market; Sparkpass, a debit card system used to pay for parking; and Kiwi Designs, developers of the Utility Wave, a product that generates power to recharge small appliances.

“Being able to develop and foster entrepreneurial thinking and approaches is critical to helping organizations of all sizes ensure their long-term viability and success,” said Michael Bowers, academic director, professor of marketing and entrepreneurship at the Rollins MBA.

The Rollins MBA Venture Challenge, organized by the CEO chapter, provides members of the Rollins family an opportunity to take an idea for a new product or business and develop a plan to introduce it to the marketplace. New ventures are defined as seed companies, start-ups, buyouts, the expansion of established enterprises, or site-specific franchises. The Rollins MBA Venture Challenge consists of the Elevator Pitch Competition, the Venture Plan Competition, and workshops put together to help participants craft their business plans.

The Rollins MBA Venture Challenge is in its sixth year. Previous winners include City-State Technologies, Ascent IT Solutions and ReDesigning Women.
