On November 18, 2010, nearly 170 students from Fern Creek Elementary arrived on the Rollins campus to participate in Pathways to College. The program, now in its fifth year, was created to inspire young students to start preparing for the very real possibility of college. Students, staff and faculty joined together to give the kindergarten, first and second grade students a glimpse of the academic environment at Rollins.
After a warm welcome by Pathways coordinators and volunteers, the children gathered around Mills Lawn to participate in hands-on science activities facilitated by Rollins faculty and students. More than 10 faculty members engaged the children in biology, math, physics, engineering and environmental science experiments. Students were also treated to musical performances by several talented music majors.
