For the second year, the College of Arts & Sciences offered an
intensive three-week summer Maymester term from May 10-29. More than 230 Arts
& Sciences and Hamilton Holt students, some enrolled in up to two courses,
took classes in 13 different sections and diverse subjects, including eight
popular general education requirements.

“Working with the multiple
offices across campus, we decided a Maymester was a great opportunity to use our
resources to offer intensive courses to students,” said Laurie M. Joyner, dean
of the faculty. “Our Maymester provides Rollins students the additional
opportunity to take required courses over the summer and help them move closer
towards their graduation goals.”
During this year’s Maymester, students
had the option to take courses such as
The History of Rock and Roll to
fulfill the College’s expressive arts requirement,
Reading Sherlock
Holmes to complete the literature requirement, receive an
Introduction to
Lasers and Light, to satisfy the physical science requirement, or learn the
Ecology of Environmental Issues in completion of organic science
requirements.
This year's Maymester enrollment was more than double that of last
year's inaugural term. Students enrolled in this year's Maymester can log into
